Quilceda Creek
“Galitzine” Cabernet Sauvignon

quilceda creek washington state galitzine vineyard cabernet sauvignon

The 2007 season began with low precipitation in the spring, resulting in short shoot growth, and heat spikes in May and July reduced berry size. Then warm, consistent heat in August and September ripened the fruit under ideal conditions.

On release, the 2007 Quilceda Creek Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon offered up intense aromatics of violet pastilles, pencil lead, sage, and minerals on top of flavors of wild mountain blackberries and chocolate truffles. The blend this vintage was 99 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with 1 percent Petit Verdot, and it is dense and intense, elegant and long, with the vines having arrived at a point where they could be considered mature. More than in previous vintages, this release required a little more time in the cellar before it really showed what it was about, but it has been drinking well for the past decade and still has years of life ahead.

"The 2007 Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon contains 1% Petit Verdot. It offers up a splendid bouquet of toasty new oak, earth notes, espresso, incense, blackberry, and plum. A bit more structured than the Palengat cuvee, it is slightly denser, layered, and intense. This very lengthy effort will benefit from 5-7 years of cellaring and will offer a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2037."
