1994

Quilceda Creek
Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

quilceda creek washington state columbia valley cabernet sauvignon

The 1994 is as a classic a Washington vintage as a winemaker could hoped for. A cool spring led to a hot mid-summer and a condensed harvest at the end of September. The grapes were ripe with intense varietal character, simply beautiful.

The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon was made in our reserve style, which remains the standard at Quilceda Creek. Composed of 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon harvested from the Ciel du Cheval, Kiona, Klipsun, and Mercer Ranch (Champoux) vineyards, it spent 22 months in 100 percent new French oak.

The wine has an impressive opaque purple color, an amazing intensity, great sweetness, and an almost syrupy, viscous texture. It is packed with black fruits, smoke, Asian spices, and vanilla, with a layered finish that lasts more a minute. Its production was 1,700 cases.
