Quilceda Creek
Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The 1999 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon tastes like an infusion of black plum and spicy blueberries layered with anise and smoke. It was noted early on that there was a hint of austere minerality buried beneath the wine’s richly extracted fruit and wonderful syrupy texture, but that streak has assimilated into the wine over the years and that tension insured a long, beautiful evolution in the cellar.
The blend remains consistent with that of previous vintages: 97 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 3 percent Merlot, sourced from the Champoux, Ciel du Cheval, Klipsun, and Tapteil vineyards. The grapes benefited from extended hang time during a very warm and dry September, enabling a wine with perfect natural acidity to balance out the sensations. We produced 2,300 cases.
